About the Trust
For the awa, its people and future generations
Established in 2020, Ko Waitangi Te Awa Trust brings together environmental restoration, monitoring, education and community partnerships. The Trust works across Te Awa o Waitangi to nurture the health of the river and strengthen the relationships that sustain it.

Native seedlings planted since 2020
Our impact
Since 2020, Ko Waitangi Te Awa Trust has planted more than half a million locally sourced native seedlings across Te Tai Tokerau / Northland.
This has been made possible through strong partnerships with communities, schools, landowners and organisations across the region.
With the capacity to produce more than 100,000 native seedlings each year at our nursery in Tauwhara, Waimate North. Our goal is to reach one million seedlings planted within our first ten years.
