  • Dr Hirini Tane

The general theme of Hirini's research interests is understanding something of the relationship between people, land and water; notions of Māori land tenure, marae, trusteeship, genealogical layering, tribal identity and belonging. Hirini’s postdoctoral research investigates cross-generational marae-community observations of waterways. Hirini also does research for Maori Maps, reconnection of marae-descendants to land through food. In his spare time Hirini enjoys listening to stories.
